Nature takes its course. We harvest its essence.

In Ecuador’s dry forest, our Vanilla is shaped by the country’s ideal climate and guided by our harvesting expertise, allowing its natural properties and exceptional versatility to remain intact.

TIME DEFINES ITS CHARACTER

Mhuna’s Vanilla Tahitensis expands its full potential by allowing nature’s perfect timing to shape the character of its properties.

We’ve broaden the spectrum of our flavour:

Anise and caramel with a soft, creamy sweetness

Fruity and floral notes with intense cacao and an elegant bitterness

Our role is to offer a consistent vanilla that gives you the freedom to explore the possibilities of its flavour by the consistency of our final product.

A NAME ROOTED IN ITS ORIGINS

Mhuna comes from the union of Mishki and Mikhuna, Kichwa words that mean sweet and food. A name that honors vanilla as the only edible fruit among more than 25,000 orchid species.

TRANSCENDENCE

Mhuna is the result of combining an exceptional resource (the equatorial climate) with a vision of excellence. We take advantage of five continuous months of flowering to obtain a Tahitian vanilla with amplified flavor and consistency in every harvest.

Our work is rooted in a community-based approach.
We understand that our vanilla exists through the balance between nature’s cycles, Ecuador’s unique climate, and our agricultural expertise in managing each stage of its development. Every phase is handled with precision, care, and consistency.

We know the complete journey of our vanilla, from the origin of the plant to final packaging. Every stage, every decision, and every hand involved is part of a transparent and responsible process, where fair practices are upheld throughout our entire cultivation and export chain.

Our work is guided by local collaborators who carry generations of agricultural knowledge, cultivating vanilla by listening to nature and allowing Ecuador’s ecosystem to express itself. Ecuadorian women are the stewards of this expertise, working in close collaboration with our team, where their deep understanding of cultivation meets our technical precision and commitment to quality. Their combined skills not only shape our product at its core, but also strengthen the communities they belong to, extending their impact far beyond Ecuador.

What happens after harvest?

After harvest, the vanilla goes through a long and carefully controlled post-harvest process. The beans are gradually cured and dried, allowing their natural oils to develop and concentrate. Once drying is complete, they enter new phase, where flavor, texture, and aroma continue to refine before careful selection and preparation for export.

How long does it take to develop Mhuna vanilla?

The full development of our vanilla takes 9 to 10 months. From flowering to the completion of the post-harvest process, time plays a key role in achieving depth, balance, and richness in natural oils.

Why is time so important in the process?

Because vanilla cannot be rushed. Under Ecuador’s sun and through months of careful curing at controlled low temperatures, its natural oils gradually awaken and evolve. This slow interaction between sunlight, time, and temperature allows deeper aromas and complex flavor profiles to emerge, giving the vanilla its distinctive character, texture, and aromatic persistence.

What defines an oil-rich vanilla?

An oil-rich vanilla is defined by its high natural oil content and balanced moisture. From the moment you hold it, its humidity is palpable. As it is handled or cut, its aromatic oils are immediately released, revealing an intense and expressive profile. This balance of oil and moisture gives the vanilla its depth and character.

Is Mhuna vanilla consistent across harvests?

Yes. Our focus on long processes, traceability, and care at every stage allows us to deliver a vanilla that is consistent in quality and character—so you can create and share with confidence, every time.

Ecuador’s climate gives our vanilla its character, but careful handling ensures it keeps it.
From origin to export, we preserve its natural oils, moisture, and structure, so it reaches you with the same quality, depth, and freshness it had at the source.

A SPECTRUM OF EXPRESSION, AVAILABLE IN THREE FORMATS

A single vanilla can unfold across different levels of expression, shaped by the time and care it is given. Through this process, its profile evolves — from balanced and versatile to deeper, more intense expressions marked by greater richness in natural oils and aromatic complexity.

VAINAS

Grown in greenhouses, hand-pollinated and cured in the equatorial sun, our pods achieve an enveloping aromatic profile.

POLVO

Made from fully cured vanilla pods and without additives, Mhuna vanilla powder maintains its aromatic intensity even in high-temperature formulations or in dry products.

CAVIAR

Hand-picked one by one, our vanilla seeds (also known as “caviar”) retain their natural texture and provide a visual impact with a distinctive aroma.
